A Labour of Love – 40 years at Pottertons Nursery By Rob Potterton
January 27th saw a large number of us sitting in Wall village hall to listen to the first talk of the year. This was an insight into how a well known nursery began and has evolved over the years and is still going strong today under the management of the second generation of Pottertons.
The Nursery was started 47 years ago in 1971 by Robs father who worked on the fish docks at Grimsby during the night. This was a pretty tough existence and his relaxation was growing carnations which he successfully exhibited winning many prizes. He soon developed an interest in propagation and started to sell plants and gradually the nursery developed.
