We arrived at the garden in sunshine, a relief after the previous day’s rain. The front garden was a colourful display including lilies and dahlias, with no hint of the secluded back garden so full of surprises.
The patio looks out over the flower filled terrace garden that was full of colour from crocosmia, salvias, and dahlias with a backdrop of lush foliage.
Behind the summerhouse was a mysterious grotto created in an old air raid shelter. Hundreds of shells worked into beautiful designs covered the walls and ceiling. We were then back where we started on the patio where we enjoyed tea and cake looking back at the densely planted garden which hides all the secrets the garden has to offer.

In the afternoon we visited John Masseys garden behind Ashwood Nurseries which is always delightful.
